Spooky Halloween Cookies

Happy Halloween lovelies!
Halloween is one of my favourite times of year because I get to dress up which I LOVE and there's a whole load of sweet things. I had so much fun baking these cookies with all the different flavours and colours and extras - I may have gone over board but oh well! I did make three different batches for the different types of cookies but the cookie cutters I used weren't too great...

                   For this recipe you will need: 
Ingredients - 125g butter
                     100g light brown sugar
                     125g caster sugar
                     1 large egg (2 small)
                     225g self-raising flour
                     
Variations -  1 tsp vanilla or orange extract
                     black or orange food colouring
                     200g chocolate chips or honeycomb or fudge


Utensils -    glass bowl
                    wooden spoon
                    scales and measuring bowl
                    sieve
                    spooky cookie cutters 
                    baking tray
                    grease proof paper


1. Preheat the oven to 180°C or gas mark 4.

2. Cream the butter and sugars together (the butter may need to be put in the microwave for 20 seconds) and then add the egg and vanilla or orange.


3. Sift the flour into the mixture and add the salt. Stir well.


4. Add whichever food colouring you want for the batch and then whichever filling (honeycomb/fudge/chocolate)


5. Lay the grease proof paper over a baking tray and spread the mixture evenly; preferably thinly so easier to cut out.


6. Place in the oven for roughly 10 minutes. You should know how quickly your oven bakes!


7. Leave the baked cookies to cool for a minute before cutting the shapes and then place on a wire rack to further cool.

8. MUNCH ON THEM!
